2019 HERC Score Standings
In 2018, the average HERC Score amongst our experts was 31.75. This year, we saw that average score jump all the way up to 37.26. We had 32 mock drafters with scores above the mean, and 24 with scores below it. Only Scott Smith (RotoViz) and Evan Silva (Establish The Run) crossed the elite 40+ point threshold in back to back years.
Smith was only 0.62 points away from retaining his HERC Score crown, but Ben Standig (NBC Sports) managed to be our first ever mock drafter to hit the 50 point plateau!
We also saw that the analytical model of “Featured 10” expert Cynthia Frelund (NFL Network) didn’t quite stack up against the predictive expertise of most of our database of mock drafters.
Another one of “Featured 10” experts, Peter Schrager (Fox Sports), was the biggest benefactor of Day 2 bonus scoring, landing four player-to-team matches on Friday night of the Draft. Many other experts earned bonus points on Day 2, but none with as many as Schrager.
Will a newcomer come to take the top spot in 2020? Will someone bust through the 50-point mark? We can’t wait to find out.
